Newfound respect for artisans at fairs

Jason and I started our first day out at 7:45 am. Somehow we thought that would be enough time to get set up by the show's opening at 10am. Our dear friend, Miriam, lent us all the supplies necessary.  I am proud to say that after more than 2 hours we were able to create a salon in our booth.

Our neighbors were so helpful. Jamie next door, ran over a bunch to see if we needed help. Neville supported us with words of wisdom and kindness. Others were amazingly friendly and full of advice. We couldn't have asked for more.

If I tell the truth, my first sale at the booth was from my awesome sister-n-law, but come on- she was urged by love (and good taste).

The first purchase made by a stranger was this awesome 8th grader who pretty much looked at everything in my booth. As a middle school teacher, it was so enjoyable to converse with a young lover of birds, nature, and photography. I was proud to sell a piece to him and hope that he continues to follow his passion.

I am still grateful for all I learned.

Sunday started out beautifully but took a turn for the worse when dark clouds started rolling over. In the morning I was alerted that a profile piece on my photography ran in the Bucks County Herald. It helps to have a husband in the publicity business!

The festival was a lot busier and I got to meet a lot of ornithophiles. Friends came from faraway places to show their support. It was a lovely day until...

The rain came. We weren't very prepared for it. It was definitely a huge lesson. Yet, I wouldn't have wanted to learn it anywhere else but in our home away from home. Next time we will make sure we are prepared for anything and everything. All in all it was a beautiful experience and I am grateful for every moment.
